Systems Engineer
We are looking for an energetic, smart, and dedicated Systems Engineer. This is a full-time position based out of our Brooklyn office, with onsite work primarily in Manhattan. There is also an opportunity to work part-time from home. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Remote and onsite administration of client servers, including troubleshooting and analysis of issues over phone and email
- Occasional remote and onsite support of client workstations and peripherals as needed
- Analysis of existing client technology infrastructure. This includes research, design, SOW preparation, project management and implementation of improvement/upgrades to client infrastructure.
- Setup and configuration of Windows servers and desktops
- Daily administration of servers and services including user adds, moves, deletes and backup
- Monitoring of servers and server resources
- Automation and scripting of daily tasks for clients
Though rare, you must be available for after-hours and weekend work when needed. We offer after-hours compensation for work outside normal business hours. Compensation based on experience.
Required Skills include 3 to 5 years work experience with:
- Windows Desktop systems (2000, 2003, and XP), and MS Office productivity tools
- Windows Servers (2000, 2003) and related Services: Active Directory, Exchange, IIS, etc.
- Desktop Rollouts, policy creation, user/group creation, patching and backup configuration
- Proven ability to work independently, multitask, and solve problems, with a willingness to learn
- Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Additional Helpful Skills:
- Familiarity with Blackberry and Treo configurations
- Experience supporting a broad range of people and companies
- Cisco, Firebox, SonicWall and other routing and firewall product experience
- Understanding of software development, primarily Apache/PHP/MySQL
- Working knowledge of RedHat and Fedora Linux administration, including: command line administration, customized installations, monitoring and troubleshooting network service, setup and management of backup routines, scripting and automation of repetitive daily tasks
- Working knowledge of OS X Server 10.3+ or Mac OS X 10.3+
